Office Relocation Checklist

posted: 6th Sept 2017

As fortunes change, the size of a business office will also need to adjust in many scenarios. However, moving an office can be stressful if not completed in the most appropriate ways. This is why today here at Top Removals we plan to provide an office relocation checklist template for those moving to take and adapt to suit their individual needs and circumstances. Keep on reading at your peril if you are considering office relocation…

Finding a new office place

Contemplate what exactly it is that you need, the amount of employees you plan to hold in your office and more. Just some of the things that you need to think about include:

  • Price
  • Insurance
  • Space
  • The future
  • Local amenities
  • Safeness
  • Parking
  • Internet

Don’t simply jump at the first office which you deem suitable, search and search again until you are 100% certain that you have found the office for you.

Relocation

Once you have chosen an office it’s time to get down to business and move things into action little by little – Here are a few top tips:

  • Plan in advance – You should start planning your office move around 12 months in advance, this will allow for you to be more prepared and for the transition to be as smooth as possible
  • Design is key – Before you purchase any new future you need to make an interior design plan and work out what exactly you need
  • Hire a removals company – Opting to use a reliable removals company such as ourselves will help you greatly when moving as you will be able to focus on other aspects of moving and have peace of mind
  • Send change of address notifications and update business cards and letterheads – Make sure that everyone is aware of your move and have your new address, not limited to utility suppliers and the post office but also including your clients and friends
  • Work out what everyone is doing – You want to ensure that your business faces as little down-time as possible, be strategic, opting for clients to pack up their own things in their own boxes so that they can get back to work ASAP without having to mess around

Responsibility towards employees

When relocating office it is vital that you look after your employees. Just two of the things that you need to think about are:

  • Mobility clauses – Mobility clauses should be in every workers contracts otherwise they can cause havoc when it comes to relocation should they not want to move
  • Details – Ensure all of your employees know what is going on at all stages of the move and that they are provided with accurate details and information

Good luck

The most important tip is to have fun and stay calm, moving doesn’t have to be stressful and you can make the process whatever you want it to be. For further tips and advice and to book removals and London storage today, simply call our dedicated team on 0800 046 7877.
