What You Should Pack For University

Packing services

For the next year, you are likely going to be spending a lot of time in your bedroom, it will not only be used for sleeping but also studying, socialising and more, therefore it is important that you make it homely, featuring lots of photographs and personal attributes. Here are some of the things that we would consider taking with us if we’re to go back in time and starting all over again:

  • Lots of coat hangers to avoid clothing being strewn all over the floor
  • A first aid kit in case any cuts or injuries
  • A hot water bottle for the cold nights
  • A desk fan because many university campus windows do not open fully
  • A couple of sets of bedding to limit washing day stress
  • A laundry basket not only to hold dirty washing but also to transport clothing on washing day
  • An extension cable so that when you get there you can actually watch your TV
  • Basic cleaning products and a  diffuser to make sure that your room smells nice
  • A long Ethernet cable so you can receive a good internet connection
  • An alarm clock in case you lose or damage your mobile phone
  • Your laptop and a USB stick so that you can easily transport your work
  • A new diary so that you can keep track of events and deadlines
  • Stationary including pads, pens, pencils, highlighters and post-it notes
  • Clothing; you don’t have to take all of your clothing but be sure to pack a range so that you have something for every occasion
  • A waterproof coat or umbrella so that you don’t get drenched when it’s raining
  • Cosy pajamas and a dressing gown for when you are feeling sorry for yourself, or for when the fire alarm goes off at 3.00am

Of course, there are plenty of other things that you should take with you; these are just a few things that we would prioritise. Be sure to sit down and make a list of things that you plan to take so that you don’t forget anything. Also, ask your friends and family what they took with them to get a better idea of what you’re going to need. Many universities in addition to this provide lists which are incredibly helpful.

When moving into university accommodation for the first time, it is apparent that many individuals choose for their parents to take them, which often takes multiple journeys. This can be incredibly stressful and tiring for all and this is where we can help. At Top Removals we can help with packaging materials and ensure that everything that is needed is taken in one journey, saving time, fuel and relieving stress. What more could you want?
