Placing related items in the same container can be a great time saver. Using envelopes to hold smaller items, and having spare boxes for cables and powers leaders, is a good strategy.

Allow yourself breathing room. It is no good leaving everything to the last minute, it is much better to get organised well in advance of the big move. Packing everything but your essentials is the best plan of action. Plates, cups, utensils and such can all be packed right before the move.

Try to keep personally luggage separate from other items. When you move into your new home you will want your personal essentials at hand, such as toilet paper, sheets, clothing, and towels.

You should keep vital information in a briefcase of a separate box to your other belongings. CVs, birth certificates, etc are too important to be thrown in with the rest of your belongings.
