Due to the rapid spread of COVID-19 in the UK, and the need to provide quality moving services to the clients that still require them, we have developed a new policy. It will ensure the safety of both our customers and staff members. The changes will minimise the spread of the virus and allow us to work as planned.
Changes In Our Organisation Concerning the Staff
Several things will change in the way we work. There are also some new practices that will be enforced to keep everybody healthy and safe.
1. Monitoring Team
We have created a team for the sole purpose to closely monitor the development of the pandemic and all the new regulations that follow it. Every regulation or advice from the government and the health organisation are taken into consideration. We implement new practices and safety rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
2. Health Measurements
Top Removals strictly follows the health advice from the WHO, the National Health Service and Public Health England. Our staff is informed about all safety procedures and rules that need to be followed. In addition, we have released emails to our employees and put up information boards in all offices.
3. Responsibility
Each staff member must self-isolate if they exhibit any symptoms of the virus. The movers who continue to work and are in contact with other people must be completely healthy. If one of our team shows symptoms while at the job they will be asked to leave the premises immediately. The kitchen and common areas in the office are subjected to thorough cleaning and disinfection on a daily basis. Maintaining excellent work hygiene is a priority.
4. Home Office
Due to the nature of our work, not all jobs can be done from home. However, people who can do their work remotely are asked to stay at home and limit their outside contacts. We are talking about office assistants, consultants, etc.
Changes in Top Removals’ Work Organisation Concerning the Customers
The new set of rules will ensure minimal contact while delivering high-quality moving services across London and internationally.
1. Initial Site Surveys
To minimise human interactions, our customers can send us descriptive pictures or videos. This way, we will be able to give them accurate estimates without actually being present at the site.
2. Packing Materials in the Mail
All purchased packing materials will be sent via curriers. If the customer wants, the package can be left at their doorstep to avoid all possibility of contact and getting infected.
3. Postponing a job
Top Removals keeps its right to postpone a scheduled move if there is a risk of exposure to COVID-19. As a member of BAR(British Association of Removals) we are advised to add the following text to our quotes for the time of this pandemic:
‘At the time of providing this quote, the UK is experiencing increased risk from the coronavirus and the concern is that the number of confirmed cases of the virus will very likely increase. The Government has stated that it will be implementing (as yet) unspecified measures to combat the spread of the virus. In the extremely unlikely event that such measures are put in place which impact our ability to provide services to you (including but not limited to us having to suspend or cancel in full the services), or the virus otherwise affects our ability to fulfil your relocation, we will not be in a position to accept any liability for any losses that may arise and we limit our liability accordingly. We are keeping the matter under careful review and will ensure that all customers are advised of any developments that may affect fulfilment of contracted services’.
4. Absence of the Customer
Clients are not obligated to be present at the site. You can provide us with access, and our movers will do the job while you are away. This is very convenient when the customers are following in the vulnerable categories – elderly people and those with pre-existing heart conditions and/or compromised immune system.
5. Avoid Standart Interactions
Both customers and staff are asked to follow the social distancing rules:
- Stay at least 2m from one and other;
- Wash/Sanitise your hands frequently;
- Avoid shaking hands;
- Wear protective gear if needed;
6. Storage Opportunities
If a customer is incapable to move (is sick or in self-isolation) we offer the possibility of store their items until they are able to properly relocate. This is especially helpful for our internationally moving clients.
Top Removals is keeping the right to implement more changes to minimise the impact of the COVID-19 spread. We will continue monitoring the situation and make regular updates if needed.
Stay safe and healthy!
